I've been a fan of Chris Daughtry since he was on American Idol in 2006; originally because he is from about 15 minutes from where I lived at the time, then because I liked his music, and now because he cares about Uganda.
While I was watching the video of the Watoto choir that I just posted, I saw a link to Daughtry singing with the African Children's Choir. I already liked his song, "Home," but I found it incredibly touching to see Ugandan children singing the lyrics: "I'm going home, to the place where I belong, where your love has always been enough for me." May all these children find homes where they are loved and may God show me how I can be His hands and feet. Read the rest of the song's lyrics here.
I then saw a link to a short video of Daughtry's trip to Uganda. Here he is singing "What About Now?" in Uganda. An appropriate call to action: "What about now? What about today?" And then the reason for the action: "What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?" God is making us into all that we are meant to be. He has handpicked us, established us and equipped us to do all that He has for us (special thanks to Priscilla Shirer and this week's Bible study for this lesson). And so my response is, "For all my life, I am Yours." Read the rest of this song's lyrics here.
