Big News in Katherineville

I am excited to announce that I am going back to school! After coming back from Uganda, my desire to have a job that makes a difference on a daily basis resurged. As some of you know, I have been trying to decide what I want to be "when I grow up" for practically my entire life (see earlier post on God's will). After assessing my strengths and interests, giving extra weight to any jobs where I can actively be the hands and feet of Jesus to those He calls us to serve (widows, orphans and strangers), I decided that a job in some form of social service would be the best fit for me. I had originally looked into Public Health (the need for health education in third world countries is immense), but science is not my strongest subject and the classes didn't sound especially interesting to me. Social service jobs seem to be available only for those with a degree in Human Services (which I don't have, unless you count a minor in Psychology), so I decided I need to go back to school. I applied to LU's Master of Arts in Human Services with a concentration in Health and Wellness on Friday and was accepted on Saturday! Talk about jumping right in! I start classes in January. I am looking forward to all I'm going to learn and the new doors this will open up for me to serve. Thank you, God, for another bend in my road.
