Helen Keller

If you've received an email from me in the past six months or so, you've seen this quote at the bottom of my email: “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.” It's a quote from Helen Keller. Yesterday I was checking out Francesca's, a delightful new store in Barracks Road, and came across this quote: “When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.” Also Helen Keller. I started to think that I should check out some of Helen Keller's other quotes. She seems to have said quite a few things that resonate with me. I did a quick search for her today and came across this quote: "I long to accomplish a great and noble task; but it is my chief duty and joy to accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble." So true. I'm going to check out some of her other writings. Anyone who was deaf and blind and yet had so much to say on happiness and making a difference in the world deserves my attention. You can read some of her other quotes here.
