Today's Devotion

Below is one of today's devotions. I long to live the exciting, unpredictable life the author talks about and yet I get completely thrown off balance when the change necessary for this unpredictable life comes around. I hope I can reorder my thoughts so that I accept the new things God is doing in my life as the next exciting thing God has chosen for me.
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)

Do you want to live beyond the ordinary, the expected? Is there something deep inside you that yearns to experience greater heights? Does your life seem familiar, comfortable and predictable? Change is the dynamic that often forces us out of comfortable places to unfamiliar extreme possibilities. Change is what allows us to exchange ordinary for greater heights. Hard work characterizes change that is often undesirable requiring adjustments and major transformations. Yielded into the Father’s hand reluctant change can produce the greatest joy.

Extreme in His nature and character, God has demonstrated His extremeness for each of us. From the lowly manger to the rugged cross, His willingness to pay the extreme price for our redemption has changed our eternity forever. God has never settled for less. He has never given up, quit or thrown in the towel. God has never longed for the predictable, but rather specializes in the unimaginable. Stay the same - no way! Accept the ordinary – forget it! Live a life of regrets – I don’t think so!

Knowing God, experiencing His presence and allowing Him to dictate change in our lives will propel us into an extraordinary life made over in the image of an Extreme Creator. Allow God to be your Extreme, to exceed your expectations and your life will never be ordinary.

“Father, we settle too quickly for the mundane. Raise our eyes to greater heights and allow us to soar with You.”
(Janet Martin)
