Dr. Vance Havner told the story of an old-time preacher who worked through the night on a sermon for his tiny congregation. His wife asked him why he was spending so much time on a sermon so few would hear. He answered, “You forget how large my audience will be.”Heb. 12:1: "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."
This preacher understood the reality of what Hebrews describes as a “great cloud of witnesses.” They’re gathered in a kind of heavenly grandstand, watching us like we’re running a race on earth.
Dr. Havner wrote, "Nothing is trivial here if heaven looks on." Maybe it seems like no one notices all the little things you do everyday for your family. Remember, the angels are watching. Maybe it seems like no one notices when you refuse to cut corners at work. The citizens of heaven are watching. And when it seems like no one knows when you say no to temptation, remember the Lord is watching.

Someone Is Always Watching
Below is the devotional I received today from Revive Our Hearts/Nancy Leigh DeMoss. Sometimes I get discouraged because I think no one notices what I do, the struggles I have, or the effort it sometimes takes to appear happy and "normal." Of course, I remind myself that God sees everything and rewards what is done in secret (Matt. 6:4). But He is not the only one. 1 Peter 1:12 says that even angels long to look into the gospel.

I used to feel that way a decent amount of the time (still do sometimes so I'm not saying I'm beyond that), but then I remember that everyone has "stuff" and I may not be looking into their life either. Helps me to not feel a need for validation. I like the quote too.
