Quietness Follow-Up

On Friday, I wrote about quietness and finding God in the midst of chaos.  Many of those thoughts were inspired by Jesus Calling.  Cultivating the habit of finding God in the clutter is difficult and so I was greatly encouraged by today's entry: "Stillness of soul is increasingly rare in this world addicted to speed and noise.  I am pleased with your desire to create a quiet space where you and I can meet.  Don't be discouraged by the difficulty of achieving this goal.  I monitor all your efforts and am blessed by each of your attempts to seek My face."

It's such a new concept for me to think of God as pleased with my efforts rather than my outcomes.  But what a release from worry and stress, to know that all I have to do to please God is to earnestly seek Him.  It gives new meaning to a familiar verse: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Mt. 6:33).
