You may remember some earlier posts about child sponsorship and Swaziland:
Orphan Help,
Tapestry of Life. The agency I sponsor two of my children through,
Children's HopeChest, is getting ready to visit Swaziland. I have been helping them prepare for the trip by participating in daily prayer for requests they send. Today they included some statistics about Swaziland that are heartbreaking:
- Of 900,000 people, the orphan population is closing in on 200,000.
- Half of all 20-somethings have AIDS.
- If you’re 15, your chances of reaching age 32 are 6%. SIX.
- One study says that at this rate, the ENTIRE population could be WIPED out by 2050. That’s 40 years from now.
Please join me in praying for this tiny country with huge needs. I believe God still does miracles (I'll be posting more on that later) and I know it is not His will for any of these little ones to perish (Matt. 18:14).
